it's all about requirement. there are features difference between BICS and Multisource universe approach.
BICS:If BEx queries are already in place then BICS is the better option to build reports.Benefit of this is to reuse existing BEx queries.
Compare to Bex query vs Cube connectivity with BICS,some features difference.like calculated/restricted KF's,customer exits will not available in the BW cube connectivity.
Some webi features will not work with BICS connection.
Features limitation in Web Intelligence with BICS connection
Mulitosuce Universe: Multisource universe can connect to DSO/Cube/Multiprovider.No connectivity with BEx queries.Better for adhoc reporting.
