Hi Poonam,

Agree. Enabling GUI on web, or running solutions over portals. Fiori is not replacing portal or GUI. Its just the new user experience. World is moving from desktop to smartphones, and so the technology is, GUI look and feel is not appealing.

The war is between, Features and Experience. Do you want 100 fields in the screen, of which only 10 fields are mostly used on daily basis, or you want a rich UI which adjusts to any screen and shows only important and highly used scenarios. Fiori keeps simple things simple.

Its clutter screen vs categorized layout.

GUI and web enablement runs on webdynpro technology(correct me here) and there are many advantages of UI5 on top of WD abap. WD screens are not responsive, not compatible on mobile, less flexible. UI5 is responsive, highly flexible on any platform, runs on any browser, latest features are available, device integration is possible, fast and light weight.

But yes, if you want again to enable similiar scenarios only on desktop, you can also consider SAP Screen Personas, which would again reduce no of clicks, beautify screens , yes again not that powerful as UI5.

Regards,
Tejas
